THE UAE FOOD LOSS AND WASTE
BASELINE STUDY

The implementation of the first national baseline study for data collection and
measurement of FLW in the United Arab Emirates

On behalf of ne’ma’s National Steering Committee, we thank you for participating in the first UAE Food Loss and Waste Baseline Study.

This 18-month study will result in establishing the UAE's food loss and waste indices, enabling consistent and long-term monitoring of FLW reduction efforts. Ultimately, this study will support national strategies aimed at minimizing food loss and waste while enhancing food security.

The study is led by ne’ma - in collaboration with key stakeholders, which aims to achieve the UAE’s target of halving food loss and waste by 2030, in alignment with the National Food Security Strategy 2051 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12.3. Reflecting the vision of the UAE President.
